A few weeks back I had a session with singer/songwriter/musician Paul O’Brien. Many of the images were taken at Maarten Schaddelee‘s studio before finishing up our session at the beach near Paul’s house. The images are for his upcoming album which was recorded during March in Germany with Stockfisch Records. With August as the anticipated release of the new album, Paul is heading back to Germany to tour in September. Until then, you can catch him playing at the Irish Times Pub!

What a band! I recently posted on the Folk Arts Quartet and wanted to add just a few more photos of these innovative and talented musicians. I can’t get enough of their CD and it’s still on constant rotation as I edit.

Sunday afternoon, a few of the gang from the Photographer Network hit up some locations around Victoria. I picked up Jenna Tye and Tristan Shouldice and we made a quick detour to Caffe Fantastico for the finest coffee in the city before making our way to the beach and locations unknown. Tristan is the brains behind the design of my website and he shoots weddings with his beautiful, and equally talented fiancée Jenna. These two are getting married in October and it seemed a great time to take some impromptu images of them before their big day. On my last day in Boston I had a session with Ruby Biloskirka-Conley. Ruby is a talented pianist from Boston attending the Berklee School of Music. We braved the cold and rain with Ruby’s ruby-coloured keyboard in tow and capped the session off with a mini-concert for one. Thanks Ruby!

Leah and Mike were married on April 4th at Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club. After a full week of rain, we were treated to a warm and sunny afternoon for their outdoor wedding. Along with their friends and families, their pug Jackson was included in the festivities and was decked to the nines in a fancy blue tutu.
I first met Leah and Mike about a year ago for their engagement photos and I was treated to their ultra laid-back personalities and knew their wedding day would be wonderful…and wonderful it was!

I’m slowly but surely editing my way through the masses of work to be done. Up today, I’m tackling the edits of the Folk Arts Quartet, made up of amazing musicians Ivonne Hernandez, Hannah Read, Julie Metcalf, and Emma Beaton. My pal Ivonne Hernandez plays fiddle in this group and I stayed with her during my recent visit to Boston. The Folk Arts Quartet are four Berklee College of Music students that have come together to create a pretty unique and creative sound….often described as ‘Chambergrass’. They are extremely talented and I haven’t stopped playing their album since my return. Check out a video of the FAQ on YouTube to have a listen.

Just a few images from my session with Paul O’Brien. His son Fintan came along during the shoot so I took a few of them at the end. Check back in a little while for the images for Paul’s upcoming album he just finished recording in Germany.

Renese King blew my socks off with her voice. Selfishly during our shoot, I kept telling her I needed to hear her sing more….more singing photos! I really just wanted to keep listening to her belting it out. Does she have pipes! I had non-stop chills.

I had the lucky pleasure to take portraits of the amazingly talented artist Maarten Schaddelee during a recent portrait session with the also wonderfully talented musician Paul O’Brien. Maarten is Paul’s neighbour and invited us to cross the road to his fantastic home and garden to take promotional portraits of Paul for his upcoming tour in Germany this fall. When we arrived in Maarten’s yard, my jaw dropped to the ground. Maarten’s marble and wood sculptures galore all throughout their oceanfront garden! Absolutely beautiful!
