After the Sound Advice school in Regina this July, I stayed a few extra days and spent the weekend with the MacDonald Family. I’ve already taken photos of Barb and Eilidh during their time in Victoria at the Canadian Highland Dancing Championships, but it was time to take some photos of the whole family together. Iain organizes the Sound Advice school and Eilidh (also a piper) and Ruaridh (a tenor drummer) both attended. After catching up on some much needed sleep, we had a quick visit with Iain’s mother then made our way out to a great red barn for the rest of the session (as recommended by Eilidh).

I was hoping to get these images edited for this week as Iain and Eilidh are over in Scotland to attend the World Highland Dancing Championships in Cowal where Eilidh will be competing…best of luck!! You may recognize superhero expert Duncan from my blog post a few weeks ago over on the Photographer Network blog. The entire family plays in the City of Regina Pipe Band, and they’ll also be part of the upcoming installment of Photographing the Art for pipes|drums. Stay tuned!

Jennifer and Jeremy were married at Fort Rodd Hill on August 1st. It was a hot day for an outdoor ceremony, but Jennifer (being super organized) kept everyone cool with the rice paper parasols she provided for all the guests. After their ceremony, we took photographs around all of the gorgeous buildings at Fort Rodd Hill. We ended up with time to spare before their grand entrance so en route to the reception, we stopped at the Four Mile Pub for a cold beverage where Jennifer and Jeremy had a chance to chill out and enjoy the company and comedy of their bridal party. Their beautiful reception was at the Chief and Petty Officers’ Mess in Esquimalt and a full night of dancing followed. Congratulations!

My third portrait session on the hottest day of the summer was with Adam and Courtney and their unbelievably adorable kids, Alex and Molly. We had a great time in their beautiful backyard during their early evening session…which ended with fresh fruit treats for the kids and cold cider for the adults! Courtney is a big fan of black and white images…my favourite!

The Sullivan Family came to Victoria on vacation from Calgary and we were able to meet up for a photo session during their stay. Ryan is the lead drummer for the Rocky Mountain Pipe Band and brought his wife Marissa, and their boys out to the coast for the Seattle Highland Games. Their shoot turned out to be on the hottest day of the summer and since we were all melting, the best way to cool off was with ice cream. Thanks to the intense heat, little Nolan and his big brother Rowan were covered in dripping, sticky ice cream by the end of the session. One extra photo of Nolan from this session was my Photo of the Week over at Photographer Network a few weeks ago.

I know two gals named Jo. Jo 1 and Jo 2. Or Big Jo and Little Jo. When they’re together, I call them Jo 1 and Little Jo. A few weekends ago, Little Jo and myself went on a walk around town to shoot for my Photo of the Week over at Photographer Network. She’s beautiful and a laugh and a half. I know her boyfriend Phil follows my blog, so Phil….these are for you.

I was away in Regina, SK a few weeks ago to teach at Sound Advice. As a fun coincidence, Dani was home to visit her parents so we set up a family portrait session. We drove out to an old abandoned church for their session and as my first time shooting in the Prairies, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Cloudy skies, high winds, and the biggest fields of the greenest grass I’d ever seen! A wonderful evening followed!
