For the past two summers, I’ve been able to make a trip to Regina to teach at Sound Advice. I had a photo session with the Brin family last summer while Jody was pregnant with Nicholas, and this summer a session with the whole Brin Diakow crew. After the session, the Brins cooked up a great supper and presented me with a Saskatchewan survival kit…my own Roughriders T-shirt, a hat from a ‘famous’ bar in Northern Saskatchewan, a mosquito net, and some AfterBite. As a blackfly magnet, that little stick of AfterBite kept me sane for the rest of the week!

Danika’s uncle gave her a portrait session gift certificate last year for her graduation present and she wanted to schedule it for sometime this spring so the weather would be ‘nice’. The weather was spring-like at times with beautiful sunlight, followed by a massive rain storm and high winds….just another day in Victoria! Danika brought her best friend Lindy along for the session and we hit up a bunch of different locations around downtown Victoria.

Amel and Pierre have spent a good amount of time in front of my camera. I took photos of Amel before she met Pierre, then I took their their engagement and wedding photos, followed by more photos before they found out they were going to have a baby, and now a maternity session a month before baby Alexio is set to arrive. I can’t wait to meet Alexio…I hope he’s as feisty as his mom and as charming as his dad. He’s lucking into some pretty great genes. My good friend Jo had a little visit over the weekend from her son Aaron, his wife Pamela, and their 3 month old daughter Andie. Aaron is an Alberta farmer and was taking a mini West Coast vacation with the family before seeding for the season, so we decided to squeeze in a portrait session during their visit. Andie decided to nap for most of the session…growing is hard work!

Jacquie invited me to come along with her as she got her fourth tattoo today. She’s been waiting for this one for quite some time and the phrase was taken from the City of Victoria Pipe Band’s 1976 album titled Play the Sweet Music. Jacquie’s dad, James W Troy, was Pipe Major of the highly successful band, and said the phrase often to his kids as they were learning the pipes and drums. Jacquie was tough as nails while being tattooed, and I managed to capture one of very few winces she made…she’s small, but mighty. Her artwork was done by Colin Wiley at Tattoo Zoo.

I had a session last weekend with Robbyn, Jeff, and their kids Maia and Rowan. I took their family photo a few years ago and like most of my repeat client sessions recently, it was neat to see how much the kids have changed. The first photo of Rowan was also my Photo of the Week on the Photographer Network this week.
