Terri Schous is a newborn/baby/child/maternity portrait photographer based out of Regina, Saskatchewan. She got wind that I was coming to town and booked a family portrait session with her husband Jarrod, and their two boys Brady and Ryan. Being unfamiliar with the city, I left it up to Terri to decide where we went for their session and she ended up choosing the Wascana Trails just outside of Regina. It was such a beautiful area, and although it was overgrown and loaded with mosquitoes, I could have photographed there all day. Driving back to the city I was asking about ticks as lots of folks were telling stories about getting bitten in the long grass. Sure enough, as soon as Jarrod finished talking, he reached down to his ankle and picked off a tick and squished it between us on the console of his truck. Needless to say (and thanks to all the mosquito bites) I was paranoid the rest of the evening had to keep checking…I guess you can chalk it up to a ‘hazard’ of the job! If I’m not worrying about the snakes in the grass, I’m worrying about the ticks! We had a great time out there and enjoyed the last moments of sunshine, and a lollipop reward at the end of the session.
